ARCHITECTURE is an artwork that is not only beautiful, but also practical. A person can appreciate a painting, a photograph, a play, or a sculpture by observing and learning the message it brings. However, a piece of architecture brings a shelter in which to live, to worship, to learn. Can you think of other uses of architecture that surrounds us every day? Would you like to learn how and where the artist planned and developed what we call--ARCHITECTURE?

Let us go back into the history or architecture and see how architecture was developed.

CONCLUSION

Most architects study those architectural masterpieces you found in TAPPS. Many famous architects are Americans:

  1. Frank Gehry
  2. Philip Johnson
  3. I. M. Pei
  4. Robert Venturi
  5. Frank Lloyd Wright
Surf the Web and find some of their outstanding artworks.

Surf the Web and find the following internationally famous buildings:

  1. Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (tallest building in the world)
  2. Chrysler Building in New York City
  3. Empire State Building in New York City
  4. Sears Building in Chicago

Many of the architectural pieces were standing before you were born and probably will remain there long after you. No matter how high and awesome these buildings may appear, remember it all began with the simple post-and-lintel construction. In order to create their masterpieces, architects use their mathematical and engineering knowledge, their artistic talent, and, probably most importantly, their imaginations.
